How can you reduce your car insurance cost?

Our top tips!

If your car insurance is up for renewal soon, there’s a few things to consider that may reduce the cost. Firstly, excesses can be a great way to help with the price but just be sure not to set it so high that you couldn’t afford it if you had to claim.

Secondly, many presume ‘third party fire and theft’ is a cheaper option but in reality, it rarely is. So, it’s always worth checking comprehensive cover, which offers more protection and is often cheaper. Thirdly, adding a spouse or additional named driver can often help, but it must accurately reflect who the main driver is. Otherwise, you risk ‘fronting’, which is illegal!

And lastly, if you’re still struggling with the cost of the insurance consider spreading the payment across the year via direct debit.
