Howden became the new name for A-Plan on 1st October 2023. We know it was a big change; a new name, and new look to get used to. That’s why we’re so grateful for all the support from our clients and the communities we serve.
So, six months since Howden became our name, we wanted to share our story so far. What’s changed, what hasn’t, and what it really means for you.
Why join the Howden Group?
In 2021, A-Plan joined the Howden Group. Founded in London by three young brokers and a dog named Flight, David Howden began winning their first clients with a focus on exceptional customer service.
That focus remains true to this day. In fact, it’s why Howden is the perfect home for A-Plan.
See, across Howden, we take a no-limits approach to caring for our clients. Whether that’s the little things, from enjoying a cup of tea in branch while we sort your cover, to stepping up when disaster strikes, ready to sort whatever emergency accommodation, transport, or support you may need.
We’ve even helped clean up a client’s flooded property, supported a community through the aftershocks of a gas explosion, and hand-delivered a walking frame to an injured client. All while progressing their claims and advocating for the best possible outcomes.
The great part about being part of Howden Group is that it means we can access a wider pool of insurers, and strengthen relationships with them, to offer even more comprehensive and tailored services. It also allows us to act as an even greater force for good in even more communities, supporting local people and the causes that matter to them.
We really care about our communities and understand how important it is for people to be able to pop into branch to speak to us. Starting from just a one-room office in London, Howden has grown its branch network to serve more than 200 locations across the UK, proving we’re still committed to serving local people, locally.
And we’re not stopping there. As we continue to open more high street branches, we’re making sure you can access our services whenever, wherever, and however you need to.
New name, same great service
When we changed our name, we understood it would take some getting used to. And we also expected a mix-up or two between a certain kitchen supplier… After all, there’s only one letter separating us!
But over time, more and more people have come to understand that we don’t sell kitchens – but we do insure them! In fact, we’re such a friendly bunch we’ve even made friends with our local ‘Howdens’ counterparts, directing any lost kitchen clients to their sites, while they direct any incoming insurance queries to our local branches. That’s what friends are for.
For us as a team, we’re still doing what we do best: helping you get great value on your insurance. We’ve had 8,000 Trustpilot reviews since our name change, and maintained our 4.8 rating – something we are immensely proud of, and don’t take for granted.
As a high street broker, we’ve seen the turmoil across the insurance market and understand the impact it’s having on everyday people. It’s so important to be able to obtain guidance when you shop around, as well as having a wide range of insurers to choose from. It’s our role to understand your specific circumstances, and find the best possible cover for you, at the right price.
